New Hampshire term alimony amount
New Hampshire term alimony uses the lower of reasonable need or 23% of the adjusted gross-income difference.
RSA 458:19-a states that a term-alimony order is the lesser of the payee's reasonable need or 23% of the difference between the spouses' gross incomes after the statutory adjustments, unless the court finds that justice requires an adjustment.
This calculator asks you to enter the adjusted incomes rather than attempting to calculate child-support payments, existing alimony, health-insurance costs, or other specified expenses that can change the statutory income calculation.
New Hampshire alimony duration
The ordinary maximum term is 50% of the length of the marriage.
RSA 458:19-a sets the maximum duration of term alimony at half the marriage length unless the spouses agree otherwise or the court adjusts the term because justice requires it. Remarriage of the payee generally ends term alimony unless an agreement provides otherwise.
